Exemplary management

We are all well aware that this was a big project to be undertaken on a very tight timescale but Shane’s management of it has been exemplary. He has gone out of his way to minimise the disruption caused by the works and has dealt with any issues that have arisen promptly and efficiently. All the site personnel that I have encountered have been polite and considerate, and the site itself has always appeared to have the highest standards of safety and organisation. Brendan and I have had full confidence in Shane throughout. He is a consummate professional and I’m sure is highly valued by Jeakins Weir.

Design and Build

Jeakins Weir have been involved on 2 recent projects at Bishop Stopford. Their second project was the Science Block which was awarded on a Design and Build contract. Jeakins Weir co-ordinated the works and the design team, providing a high standard of finish. They liaised very well with the school, particularly with regard to co-ordinating their works around the on-going school activities.

Starter homes

Jeakins Weir have worked with Harborough District Council to develop 4 residential starter homes. From the outset, Jeakins Weir demonstrated a complete understanding of the overall aims of the project. They assisted the Council in developing the business case through the initial feasibility process.
They have built a team both internally and with the architect and other consultants, who working with the Council, as client, has brought a fully collaborative approach and focused on meeting the overall objectives. This collaborative approach has been evident throughout the pre-construction programme through to the on site construction.

The team have worked to address issues on site to reduce the impact on the programme. In addition, they have worked with neighbours on a very restricted site to reduce the overall impact of development, and have communicated regularly with stakeholders providing updates on progress. The site manager has been praised by the architect for the ongoing dialogue to ensure the architectural aspirations are not compromised during on site works.

Jeakins Weir have appointed a strong supply chain who have remained focused and flexible to site requirements throughout to ensure the project is completed as quickly as possible. The standard of workmanship has been excellent, and will result in a high quality product. This will be in contrast to many new build residential developments by volume house builders where horror stories are rife.

Jeakins Weir have a strong Health & Safety ethos, which is replicated by the sub contractors. The careful use of the supply chain procurement has resulted in reduced environmental impact reducing travel time to site as a significant proportion are within a 20 mile radius, which, also, supports Council objectives over local spend.

The project is nearing completion and the end product is something the whole team can be rightly proud of. Further residential development projects are in the pipeline and working with Jeakins Weir, I am confident that a similar positive outcome will result.
