Jeakins Weir Appointed to Scape's Regional Construction Framework

New four year procurement framework for the Public Sector is worth £30m to Jeakins Weir; responsible for works in Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland

Jeakins Weir, the Corby-based construction company, has been awarded a £30m share of a large multi-year contract awarded by public sector construction procurement specialist Scape Group for the Midlands and East of England.

Scape recently announced the names of the eleven building contractors awarded Regional Construction framework contracts, with lots divided into bands by project value. Jeakins Weir’s region covers Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland with a total value of £30m over the next 4 years.

The four year framework will have a total value of up to £1.1 billion.

The procurement framework provides construction services for public sector projects in the Midlands and East of England, covering Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bedfordshire, Essex and Hertfordshire.

This new Scape framework replaces their current framework, which expires in the coming weeks. Jeakins Weir was first appointed by Scape in 2010 and Scape’s current framework has seen high levels of demand from the public sector having completed to date over 500 projects in the region.

Jeakins Weir Managing Director Alistair Weir said: “We are delighted to have won this regional framework agreement. Scape helps improve the procurement and delivery of construction projects for public sector bodies saving time and money for them and in turn for council taxpayers. Jeakins Weir was selected by Scape for our focus on social value and for our extensive local knowledge and demonstrable experience of working collaboratively to deliver a range of public sector projects.”

Victoria Brambini, Managing Director of Scape Procure, said: “The Regional Construction framework enables us to provide public sector organisations with access to a framework that not only delivers high quality and cost effective services from contractors that have demonstrated the right balance of cost and quality, but crucially also has specific social value objectives. We are looking forward to working with our clients and partners, both existing and new, to deliver even greater value for local communities in the period ahead.”
