Primary school set to double capacity

Expansion programme addresses urgent need for more school places

Milton Keynes Council has appointed Jeakins Weir to expand the facilities at St Mary and St Giles Church of England School in Stony Stratford. The work will extend the primary school from a one-form entry to a two-form entry school, meeting the demand for more pupil places in the area.

The expansion work will include the construction of seven new classrooms, group rooms, a new sports pitch and soft and hard landscaping.

Work on site is being meticulously planned to ensure the pupils and staff can continue to use parts of the building throughout the construction programme. The phased schedule will even allow the school to start using some of the new classrooms while work continues on the others.

The £2m contract will begin with some demolition works, followed by construction of the new classroom extension, alongside internal alterations and refurbishment of group rooms and toilets.
