4 new build homes
Client: Harborough District Council
Location: Great Glen, Leicestershire
Start: January 2017
Complete: July 2017
Architect: BRP Architect
This project was for the construction of four new 2 bedroom starter homes. The site was on a disused garage site, which had to be demolished before our construction works began. These homes were of a timber frame structure.
We were awarded this project as a partner on the Scape Group empa-ii framework.
This project was on a very tight site, with access points very narrow in a residential street. The client made it clear that minimal disruption to the neighbouring residents was essential, with most of them being elderly. The use of local labour was also important to the client, so our estimating and buying departments ensured we used subcontractors within a 20 mile radius.
Once the garages had been demolished, we held a sold cutting ceremony on site with representatives from Harborough Council, Scape and Jeakins Weir.
Construction started soon after this once the ground and foundations had been prepared ready for the installation of the timber frame.
Harborough District Coucnil were extremly pleased with the handover of these four new homes. A mix of unused land put to good use and new, affordable homes in the area encouraged the council to award us another scheme of similar new build houses in nearby Lubenham.
